About the business and the role

Applications are sought from suitably qualified, dynamic and self-motivated persons who will give strong leadership and implement the strategic direction of the organisation. An in depth knowledge and understanding of issues relating to domestic and family violence, and a broad knowledge of the local community sector is essential to the position. This person is responsible for the day to day operation of the Service, program management, supervision and support of a team of highly motivated and professional staff.

The Caboolture Regional Domestic Violence Service Inc. is a community-based organisation. The service is located in the Moreton Bay Region. CRDVS is actively involved in supporting people affected domestic violence, mostly women and their children, in addition to coordinating a community response to this issue.

Job tasks and responsibilities

The Manager is responsible for the day to day operational and fiscal management as well as strategic direction of CRDVS in line with the established organisational philosophy, policies and procedures. The Manager will plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of CRDVS keeping Victim Safety as the paramount focus at all times. The Manager provides overall leadership, direction, and support to staff, and volunteers in order to achieve the vision and mission of the organisation and provides support to the Management Committee to achieve this. The Manager retains oversight of all operations, programs and activities of the organisation and is responsible for ensuring that CRDVS policies and practices are consistent with the agency mission and goals and meets best practice and standards (Human Services Quality Framework, DSS Standards). The Manager will build on existing effective partnerships with key allies and stakeholders and work to devel
op new partnerships that aid CRDVS in achieving its mission. The Manager will ensure ongoing fundraising success, and work to increase CRDVS’ recognition and relevance in the community.

Skills and experience

1. An ideal candidate will have a passion and commitment for the mission of CRDVS Inc. and a desire to be a part of ending domestic and family violence and violence against women and children.
2. They will bring to the position a deep understanding of domestic violence issues and high level of sensitivity to the impact of violence on women and children along with a desire to ensure that CRDVS’ services and practices are at the forefront of best practices and relevant trends in the field.
3. They will demonstrate strong ability to align CRDVS Management, staff, volunteers and other stakeholders with CRDVS mission.

Selection Criteria

1. A minimum of 3 years of successful leadership as an executive or senior manager in the social work or human services field, or equivalent, translatable experience
2. Proven high level leadership skills, including the ability to think and plan strategically and proven success in developing and supporting high performing, diverse work teams
3. Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational leadership and management with particular emphasis on human and financial resource management, effective planning, administrative skills and the provision of quality client services including the ability to develop organisational policy and procedures and other necessary documents, and to maintain high standards of service delivery and accountability
4. Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to address issues of domestic and family violence and contribute government and community forums on trends, policies and emerging issues in relation to domestic and family violence.
5. Ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and an understanding of their barriers to accessing services.
6. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the causes, effects, social contexts and responses to domestic and family violence, including appreciation of cultural differences and needs of diverse groups and the ability to work with people effected by domestic and family violence 7. Advance computer skills, eg emails, other MSOffice suite, etc.
