    About the job
    The Senior Entomologist will primarily be located at the Australian National Insect Collection (ANIC) Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Black Mountain site in Canberra. From time to time the officer is likely to be required to work at the head office of the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) in Canberra and at OSS diagnostic laboratories around Australia. The officer will work a significant amount of the time by themselves or as part of a small team.

    Under the general direction of the Assistant Director (Entomology) in Sydney, the Senior Entomologist will perform the following duties, as required:

    1. Perform routine entomology duties, including: identification of specimens; preparation of specimens for long-term preservation and inclusion in the department’s reference collections; sourcing appropriate literature and diagnostic tools; securing reference specimens for the OSS national network.
    2. Coordinate referral of high-level diagnostics of insects and other invertebrates to the CSIRO/ANIC network and dissemination of results to DAWR operational scientists.
    3. Assist in the delivery of field surveillance and subsequent diagnostics in the laboratory as required.
    4. Develop and promote good communication channels for remote diagnosis and information transfer between the department’s laboratories, ANIC and other relevant agencies.
    5. Provide verification, validation and training services to OSS and other groups in the department, through workshops, visits to laboratories and direct communication with officers.
    6. Prepare research reviews, technical manuals and diagnostic tools, and undertake other specific activities, to aid delivery of services by OSS entomologists.
    7. Liaise, negotiate and communicate with ANIC, government agencies, industry bodies and other stakeholders.
    8. Provide and contribute to advice to client groups within Service Delivery and other divisions of the department, on policy, inspection, risk management and treatment.
    9. Contribute to the development and delivery of entomologically related technical training for inspectorate staff.
    10. Contribute to the development of national policies and procedures, within area of expertise.

    Strong entomological knowledge and long-term practical experience in taxonomic entomology are required for the position.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    Mandatory Qualifications – A degree or equivalent in Agriculture or Science, from an accredited institution, with emphasis on taxonomic entomology.

    The successful applicant will be required to undergo a security assessment and maintain an ongoing Baseline Vetting security clearance.

    As a Marine Engineering Officer you are the technical expert on board ships and are responsible for the ship’s structures, propulsion systems, electrical generation and distribution, and domestic and associated mechanical services.     About the Role
    Early Intervention Services (EIS) Manager is a full time position based at RACR office in Deakin, ACT.

    Reporting to the ACT Manager, the EIS Manager is expected to develop, maintain and manage the quality of service delivery and clinical standards of the Early Intervention Services (Counselling, Relationship Education and Specialised Family Violence programs), ensuring that the outcomes and outputs of all EIS program contracts are met and delivered within budgetary and legislative constraints, while leading a team of professionals. The selected candidate will be required to represent and promote RACR and its policy positions at industry forums and networking events, work to influence policy directions in the community sector, contribute to government consultation meetings and processes.

    To be successful in this role, you are required to possess an appropriate tertiary qualification in management, social science, counselling, clinical work or a related area with membership at a relevant professional association, demonstrated experience and skills in leading, managing and supervising staff in the community sector or a not for profit organisation, clinical practice in the counselling, family violence and group work areas as well as managing a range of programs that include report writing, meeting contracted targets, contributing to program budgets and program evaluation, complimented with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

    Salary & Benefits

    The salary on offer is in the range of $84,430- $87,900 per annum, plus superannuation. As a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), RACR employees also receive tax-effective salary packaging opportunities, thus significantly increasing the value of your take-home pay.

    According to the RACR Enterprise Agreement, the successful candidate will have access to generous leave provisions, annual leave loading, special paid leave during annual holiday shutdown period and flexible working arrangements.
